Video Game Art,

and More
Welcome to my website.

As a video game artist, I create concept illustrations and build and texture the low-polygon models used in a game.   Currently, I use Maya and Photoshop.  And I have years of experience with 3DStudioMax.  And I am finally getting around to learning Mudbox.
I've worked on titles for the PC, the Playstation, Nintendo64, Playstation2, Gamecube, the XBox, the PSP and now the Wii. From Real Time Grand Strategy to Action Shooter, with styles from Post-Apocolyptic to Sunny Saturday Morning Cartoon.
I hope you enjoy my website.  Click on any of the links across the top menu bar to get started.  Feel free to drop me a line with any comments,  critique... or job offers.
December 15, 2008:  Jeez.  Not like we haven't had enough bad news over the last year, well, last eight years really.  I just read that Subaru may be getting out of the World  Rally Championship, and Bettie Page died last week.

November 28, 2008:  Uh.  Nevermind...

November 21, 2008:  Added some photography samples last night to the portfolio.

November 13, 2008:  More updates to the website.  I've added some more figure drawing images to the Other Artwork section, more cars to the Fine Tooned section, and some environment images from the Wii project I was on.  I also have added a Testimonials page for comments from previous coworkers and clients.

November 11, 2008:  I've added some images from the prototype we were working on at Locomotive before the shut down.  I was Lead Artist on the project and I handled the lighting for the level.  Check it out here.

November 6, 2008:  Locomotive Games was closed down by THQ on Monday.  'sigh'.  And our prototype third-person-shooter for the Wii was looking really impressive too.  Real time destruction and everything.  But, THQ hasn't had a very good run over the last couple years and it finally came down to having to cut several studios.  Its a shame too.  Locomotive was the most enjoyable game company I've worked for.  So, it's time again to update the website.  I'll be adding samples from the Wii titles we were working on soon.

June 8, 2008:  Wow!  Was it almost a year that we shipped Ratatouille for the PSP?  Well, I finally added a page showing some of the level work I created for the game.  In other news, Locomotive Games had layoffs a couple weeks ago.  I wasn't one of those laid off this time though.   Funny how layoffs and portfolio updates coincide.   The last year has been spent working on a couple of titles that were both cut early in production.   Oh yeah.  I was promoted to Lead Artist back near the end of 2007.   We are in pre-production on a title for the Wii.

July 4, 2007:  Finally getting around to updating my website.  Ratatouille Shipped several months ago.  Hopefully, I'll update this site with screen-caps from the game soon.  I'm now working on a title for the Nintendo Wii.

I've been at Locomotive for about a year and a half now.  During that time, I was promoted to Senior Artist and I am now in training for a Lead Artist position.

February 5, 2007:  Nearing completion on Ratatoullie for the PSP with Locomotive.  It will be on the shelves when the movie releases in mid-summer.  I've signed up for a track day at Laguna Seca with Unlimited Laps in April.  This will be my first time on Laguna Seca's track as a driver.  I'm really looking forward to that.

June 22, 2006:  Lots happened over the last six months.  EA had layoffs in February.  I joined Locomotive Games in Santa Clara, CA shortly after that.  They're a great group at Locomotive.  I'm really enjoying the new job.  I'm now working on games for the Sony PSP.  The current game is based on the next Pixar movie; "Ratatoullie."

December 13, 2005:  I've updated the portfolio with a couple pics of the vehicles I built for EA's "The Godfather, the game"

October 12, 2004:  I've uploaded some screenshots from EA's The Lord of the Rings, The Third Age.  Unlike the previous LOTR title, this one is an RPG.

Sept. 27, 2004:  On vacation after wrapping up art for EA's Lord of the Rings; The Third Age.  It's also Kit's and my fifth anniversary.  We spent it at a romantic Skip Barber two-day driving school at Laguna Seca in Monterey CA

May 14, 2004:   In FineTooned news, you can now purchase FineTooned  T-Shirts and other stuff at www.cafepress.com\finetooned

March 1, 2004:  A lot has happened since the last update:  I got picked up full time at EA after ROTK shipped last October.  And my wife and I bought our first home last December.  Website-wise, I rearranged some stuff in my Games portfolio.

September 17, 2003:  Adding some updates to the website, including some samples of my work from "Lord of the Rings, Return of the King" by EA.

August 15, 2003: Almost to Asset lock on Lord of the Rings; Return of the King.  Wow!  What a whirlwind production.  A lot of hard work, but what a great group of people to work with.  I was hired as temporary full time and there's only two to four weeks left in my contract.  Wonder what'll be next.

June 2, 2003:  Today was my first day at Electronic Arts.  So far, so good.  The people I've met so far have been really friendly and helpful.  The project looks great and has a lot of potential.  I've started learning Maya today and I'm starting to get the hang of it.

May 28, 2003:  3DO announces it is filing chapter 11.

May 23, 2003:  Moved up my resignation from 3DO to today.  It was supposed to be next Friday, but things are happening here that made it seem more prudent to leave today.  Fortunately, I've been given an offer from Electronic Arts in Redwood City.   Hopefully, the rest of my team will all find other work soon.  I can highly recommend all of them.

May 14-16, 2003:   I went down to LA to check out this year's E3.  Got to see some old friends who used to work w/ me at 3DO.  And I saw the Matrix Reloaded at Gruman's Chinese Theater.  Thanks Quinn!

May 2-4, 2003:  Rim of the World Rally in Palmdale.  Awful, rainy, cold weather, but it was still a blast.  I got to meet the Last Ditch Racing team and my car won an award for "Best Sleeper" in the Subaru Showdown car show.   I finally found a lower frame brace for the car at the Primative Racing vendor tent.  And its price was reduced!  Installed it the day after I got back.  Makes the car feel more solid.  Very nice.

May 1, 2003: Got the latest issue of Grassroots Motorsports magazine.  My car is the internet hot rod of the month.  WooHoo!

April 11, 2003:  Added a Logos section to the portfolio.  Added a couple more cars to FineTooned and a couple models to the Games section.

March01, 2003:  Turned 33.  Didn't hurt as much as I thought it would.

Feb 02, 2003: I finally did it!  We completed a WRX engine swap into my '99 Impreza 2.5RS.  It took just over a week to complete with the help of my friends at i-SpeedUSA.  Now my car has an extra 100 hp! OH YEAH!

Dec 20, 2002: Our team finished our stint helping the team working on Army Men: Sarge's War.  After the holidays, we'll finally be starting on our own game again, hopefully.

July 14, 2002:  New Website layout.

July 26, 2002:  Going to Track event at Thunderhill Raceway at the end of July.  I'll post pics on my "And Here I Am..." page.
